Not all of Kamik’s boots are vegan, as they do use animal leather in some styles, but they have the best selection and variety of vegan winter boots to shop from. Best of all, Kamik clearly labels which of their shoes are vegan which makes it easier to shop and browse from their large selection of waterproof vegan winter boots.

Columbia

Columbia offers some of the best quality and high-performing winter boots on the market. Not all Columbia boots are vegan, as they do use animal leather and suede materials, but Columbia does have some waterproof boots made with all-vegan materials.

Columbia doesn’t label their shoes as “vegan,” so you’ll have to check the composition of each of their shoes to make sure they’re made with non-animal and synthetic materials. I found that most of their Omni-Heat styles are vegan-friendly. Also, it’s best to avoid Columbia boots that appear to contain leather or suede, as they tend to use animal leather instead of synthetic leather.

Cougar makes modern footwear that is waterproof and functional. Not all Cougar shoes and boots are vegan but they do offer a few styles that are made with nylon and vegan materials. It’s best to avoid any of their boots that look like leather materials as Cougar mostly uses animal leather over synthetics.

Thankfully, Cougar also labels which of their shoes and boots are vegan in the product description, so it’s easy to filter and find which of their shoes are suitable for vegans.

Skechers

Not all of Skechers shoes are vegan as they do use animal leather and suede materials in most of their boots. But Skechers does have some vegan cold-weather boots made with micro-leather and suede-textured materials that look like the real thing but are made without animal cruelty. Skechers shoes are known to be lightweight and comfortable to wear for long walks.

If you’re shopping on Skechers’ website, you can filter out their vegan shoes by hovering over ‘Technology’ > and then clicking ‘Vegan’.

Skechers confirmed the glues they use are water-based and not animal-derived, therefore Skechers shoe glues are vegan-friendly.

Noize

Noize is a 100% vegan apparel, footwear, and accessories brand. Some of their vegan winter boots are unisex, but they mostly offer women’s sizes. Noize’s comfy and cozy boots are made from all-vegan and some eco-friendly materials like post-consumer recycled water bottles and recycled fill.

Helly Hansen is known for its professional-grade sports and outdoor apparel designed to help you stay protected in the world’s harshest environments. Most of their boots contain leather or suede, but this year, I noticed they had a few winter boots made of all synthetic materials, but none of them were advertised as being Vegan. So, I emailed the brand and they confirmed the following Helly Hansen boots are free from animal materials and adhesives:

Baffin

Baffin is an innovative, leading outerwear company based in Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada. Their core focus is technically advanced, innovative footwear and high-performance apparel. Although Baffin is not an entirely vegan brand, they do offer some vegan winter boots for men and women.

Baffin’s vegan-friendly footwear are easily identifiable when shopping on their website. Just look for the Vegan Icon under the ‘Features’ portion of their product description.

I went through Baffin’s collection of men’s and women’s winter boots and spotted the Vegan Icon in the following:

And I confirmed with Baffin that the above boots contain vegan glues.

SOREL

SOREL specializes in making waterproof winter boots that are guaranteed to keep you warm, comfortable, and dry.

Not all SOREL boots are vegan as they do use animal skins and furs in some of their shoes. But SOREL does offer some styles that are made with synthetic and vegan-friendly materials. You’ll have to read each shoe composition as SOREL doesn’t label any of their shoes as “vegan.”

The following SOREL boots appear to be vegan as I didn’t spot any genuine leather, suede, or fur in the product description:

Also, note that SOREL is unable to guarantee their glues are vegan, stating, “We try to avoid animal based glue whenever possible, but there can be animal byproducts used in some of our glues.” If this is a deal-breaker for you then SOREL may not be a suitable option for you, choose from the other options on this list.

The North Face

The North Face has a couple of accidentally vegan winter boots made with their ThermoBall Eco insulation designed to keep your feet toasty warm.

Most of their boots contain leather or suede, but The North Face’s Women’s ThermoBall Lace Up Waterproof Boots ($149) and Women’s ThermoBall Progressive Zip II Waterproof Boots ($129) both appear to be vegan and made from all synthetic and some recycled materials.

For something more robust, their Women’s Summit Series Breithorn FUTURELIGHT Boots ($280) also seem to be made from all vegan materials.

The North Face confirmed they use synthetic-based glues, making their shoe glues vegan.

Alexandra K’s Vegan Snow Boots

Vegan and sustainable fashion brand, Alexandra K. offers a pair of waterproof vegan snow boots ($295) that’s stylish and environmentally responsible. Designed with innovative, vegan materials and crafted from plant-based Italian fabrics, these vegan snow boots are a work of art, made with the utmost attention to detail and designed to showcase the harmony between nature and technology.

Xero Shoes – Alpine Vegan Snow Boots

If you prefer lightweight, minimalist vegan show boots that are fully waterproof, then check out Xero’s Alpine Vegan Boots ($160) for Men and Women. Based in Canada, Call it Spring offers a great collection of vegan winter and snow boots at an affordable price. Most of their stylish boots are $100 and under. All of Call it Spring shoes are 100% Peta-Approved Vegan and made from recycled materials that are gentle on the planet.

Most styles of their boots are waterproof and temperature-rated for up to -20°C so that your feet can stay warm and dry. Shop from Call it Spring’s collection of men’s and women’s vegan winter boots, whether you prefer something chunky, puffy, mid-calf, or short, they have it all!

Bogs

Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend Bogs as a vegan alternative. Their Arcata Geo boot partly contains wool materials but you’d only know that if you had the shoes in front of you with the tags as their website doesn’t mention anything about wool.

I reached out to Bogs to ask for clarifications but never heard back. Therefore, I am not sure about the accuracy of their website’s product descriptions for all their other supposedly ‘vegan’ boots. I think it’s best to avoid Bogs when shopping online. If you’re shopping in person, check the tags for a more accurate description of the composition and materials.

Are Slippers Vegan?

Most warm and cozy slippers contain felted wool from sheep’s hair. Although there are responsibly-sourced wool options available, vegans typically prefer not to wear or buy anything made from materials that were derived from animals.

In addition to wool blends, some slippers may also be made with fur, leather, and/or suede derived from animal skins, and some may contain lambskin or sheepskin lining.

For vegan slippers, you want to find a pair made from any other material that did not come from animals. Either look for ones that are straight-up labeled as Vegan or ones made with materials like polyester, microfiber fabric, or anything that states it’s faux- or synthetic-.

For an eco-chic & vegan option, look for items made with natural materials like organic cotton, bamboo, cork, or recycled materials.

That way, you get to try on their shoes before buying. Matt & Nat boots are reasonably priced between $100-$170, but you can often find their previous year’s boots on sale.

BHAVA

BHAVA is an eco-conscious and ethical, vegan footwear brand from New York. They make the most beautiful vegan leather boots and vegan winter boots for women. All of their shoes are manufactured in Alicante, Spain where shoes are still being handmade by generations of artisans. The design is in the details, from the choice of upper, and the soft eco-suede lining (all imported from Italy), to the European hardware. BHAVA boots start at $200.

NAE Vegan Shoes

Based in Canada, Call it Spring is a PETA-approved vegan footwear brand offering a range of affordable, cruelty-free shoes. This season, Call it Spring released Letstayin, a chunky vegan Chelsea bootie with a round toe, lug sole, and faux-fur lining. It also claims to be waterproof and made from 30% recycled mattresses. Available in three colors.

Bearpaw – Vegan Options

For the most affordable vegan Ugg boot alternative option, I would recommend Bearpaw. Although not entirely vegan, Bearpaw launched a collection of vegan shoes made with all vegan materials. Most of their vegan boots and slippers are quite similar to UGG’s when it comes to styles, colors, and height. **Just make sure you’re buying the ones that specifically say they’re ‘Vegan’ in the product name.** Some of Bearpaw’s vegan boots can also be found on Amazon.

Also, Bearpaw has confirmed to me that the glues they use in their Vegan shoes are made without animal by-products.

Vegetarian Shoes – Snug Boot

Instead of UGG’s classic short boots, try Vegetarian Shoes’ Snug Boot instead! Made in Europe, these vegan boots look like UGGs but are made from soft and breathable faux-suede and lined throughout the interior with fleecy faux-sheep wool. Your feet will stay cozy and warm, and so will the animals because absolutely no animals were harmed or killed for these cute vegan boots!

And if you’re looking for a pair of vegan UGGs made with sustainable materials, Vegetarian Shoes has one made with pineapple leather!

Are UGGs Vegan?

Unfortunately, UGG’s boots are NOT vegan. The classic UGG boots are made with animal materials like sheepskin, animal leather, fur, suede, and/or wool.

UGG states in its product descriptions, “This product contains real fur from sheep or lamb. Fur may be sourced from Australia, Ireland, the United Kingdom, or the United States. It has been artificially dyed and treated. Made in China.”

Beware of Sellers on Amazon

You can shop for vegan boots like UGGs on Amazon, as they have a lot of styles and options made with cheap faux materials that are technically vegan.

But there’s very little information available about these resellers and their ethical practices. Throughout the years, reports have shown some retailers (like Boohoo) selling items labeled as “faux-fur”. But upon investigation, it turns out they were actually made from real animal fur.

I think it’s best to avoid buying faux-fur products on Amazon from brands or sellers you aren’t familiar with. What I do when I shop on Amazon is actually Google the brand or company name first. If they don’t have a legitimate website and the only search result that shows up is a link to their Amazon store, I don’t buy from them.
