Looking for a cruelty-free and vegan deodorant that actually works? You’re not alone. This has been one of the most requested guides by many of you!

So, I’ve done the research for you, and here’s a round-up of 13 best of the best vegan deodorants that actually work!

Most of the deodorant brands you find at the store are from companies that test on animals including Degree, Axe, Old Spice, Arm & Hammer, and Gillette.

In addition, some deodorants may contain ingredients derived from animal sources like animal-based stearic acid, glycine, and royal jelly. Manufacturers often don’t disclose the source of their ingredients on the product packaging so it’s difficult to know with certainty whether a product is vegan just by reading the ingredient list.

Vegan Deodorants

All of the deodorants listed in this guide have been verified as being truly cruelty-free using our Cruelty-Free Checklist. And they’ve all been verified as being vegan and don’t contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products.

Looking for the best cruelty-free & vegan toothpaste that removes plaque, freshens breath, and whitens naturally?

In this cruelty-free toothpaste guide, I’m sharing some of the best vegan toothpaste brands; whether you prefer fluoride-free, or with fluoride, for sensitive teeth, or whitening toothpaste, there’s something for you in this list!

What To Look For:

Let’s first begin by asking, is toothpaste vegan? Some toothpaste contains animal-based glycerin, calcium phosphate derived from ground animal bones, or propolis derived from bees.

These can now be made synthetically or from naturally-derived plant sources. But make sure to check the ingredient lists, and unless it’s clearly stated all ingredients are from plant or synthetic sources, don’t assume they’re vegan.

In addition, most drugstore toothpastes are from brands that still test on animals like Crest, Colgate, Sensodyne, Arm & Hammer, Aquafresh, Biotene, and Spry, and should be avoided when looking for cruelty-free and vegan toothpaste.

List of Cruelty-Free Toothpaste Brands

The following brands are cruelty-free and do not test on animals. Some of these cruelty-free toothpaste brands are also 100% Vegan brands that do not use any animal ingredients or by-products in any of their product lines.

Is Crest Toothpaste Vegan? No. Crest is also NOT vegan. Crest claims some of its toothpaste is free of glycerin and does not contain animal by-products. However, since we do not consider Crest to be cruelty-free as their products are tested on animals when required by law, we also wouldn’t consider anything sold or manufactured by Crest to be vegan.

Is Tom’s Toothpaste Vegan and Cruelty-Free? Tom’s of Maine is a *cruelty-free brand but not an entirely vegan brand. Tom’s confirms its glycerin is from plant sources. Only some of Tom’s toothpaste is vegan, check the labels before buying. *However it should be noted that Tom’s of Maine is owned by Colgate, a parent company that is NOT cruelty-free.

All of Hello’s products, including their toothpaste are vegan and do not contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products. *However it should be noted that Hello is owned by Colgate, a parent company that is NOT cruelty-free.

Looking for a refreshing vegan hand soap to gently clean and wash hands and that also smell incredible? In this guide, I’m sharing the best vegan hand soaps that you can find at most major retailers, off and online.

Is Hand Soap Vegan?

Some hand soap and hand wash formulas contain rendered animal fat or animal-based glycerin and stearic acid. There are plant-based and synthetic alternatives to animal-derived ingredients. But it’s sometimes difficult to know with certainty whether a product is vegan just by reading the ingredient list.

When looking for a vegan hand soap, choose items that clearly state they’re vegan in the product description or packaging.

Which Hand Soap Is Cruelty-Free?

In addition to avoiding animal-derived ingredients in hand soaps, most drugstore and high-end hand soaps are from brands that still test on animals, like Softsoap, Safeguard, Olay, and Bath & Body Works, and should be avoided when looking for a cruelty-free and vegan hand soap.

Vegan Hand Soap Brands

All the hand soaps mentioned in this post are from brands that have been verified as being truly cruelty-free and don’t test on animals. Note that I’ve included some options from cruelty-free brands that are owned by an animal-tested parent company. If you choose not to purchase from these brands, then avoid the ones marked with an * asterisk.

And all the hand soaps have been verified as being vegan-friendly and don’t contain any animal-derived ingredients. However, always check the manufacturer’s website for the most up-to-date information, as ingredients and formulations may change.

If you’re looking for a vegan hand soap refill option, many of these natural and eco-friendly brands offer a refillable solution to cut down on single-use plastic packaging.

FAQ – Vegan Hand Soap

Is Hand Soap Vegan? Not all hand soaps are vegan, as many contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products. For example, animal-based glycerin is used in soaps as a humectant, while animal-based stearic acid is used in soaps to create a rich, creamy lather or to help harden bar soaps. Sodium Tallowate can also be found in most mainstream hand soap bars, which are derived from beef or sheep fat and are used as an emulsifier and detergent. In addition, some soaps contain goat milk, honey, or beeswax.

Is Everyone Hand Soap Vegan? Yes. In addition to Everyone’s hand soaps, all Everyone’s products are also vegan.

Is Method Hand Soap Vegan? Yes. In fact, every Method product is vegan including their hand soaps.

Is Dial Hand Soap Vegan? Most Dial hand soaps are NOT vegan. Currently, Dial only labels its Clean + Gentle™ Foaming Hand Wash as vegan. All other Dial hand soaps do not have the vegan label and therefore do not classify as being vegan-friendly. Dial also gained Leaping Bunny cruelty-free certification in June of 2022, making them officially cruelty-free.

Is Meyer’s Hand Soap Vegan? Yes. All Mrs. Meyer’s hand soaps are vegan.

Looking for a cruelty-free and vegan antiperspirant deodorant to help control sweat and odor? In this post, I share several vegan antiperspirant options for both men and women.

Most antiperspirants & deodorants on the market are from brands that still test on animals like Arm & Hammer, Axe, Mitchum, Secret, Kiehl’s, Degree, Fresh, Clinique, and should be avoided when shopping for a cruelty-free antiperspirant.

Also, some anti-perspirant formulas contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products, making them not vegan-friendly. Common non-vegan ingredients found in deodorants and antiperspirant products include royal jelly, gelatin, animal-based glycerin, and stearic acid.

Manufacturers often don’t disclose the source of their ingredients on the product packaging so it’s difficult to know with certainty whether a product is vegan just by reading the ingredient list.

Vegan Antiperspirants

All of the antiperspirants deodorants listed in this guide have been verified as being truly cruelty-free using our Cruelty-Free Checklist. And they’ve all been verified as being vegan and don’t contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products.

It should also be noted that all antiperspirants contain aluminum. If you wish to avoid aluminum in your deodorant, then check out these cruelty-free and vegan aluminum-free deodorants instead.

For those of us who want to block body odor and underarm wetness, here are some cruelty-free and vegan aluminum-based antiperspirants to try!

Hello Vegan Antiperspirant Deodorant

Hello recently came out with a couple of cruelty-free* and vegan antiperspirant deodorants. They claim their antiperspirant deodorants provide 48-hour sweat and odor protection. It contains aluminum zirconium trichlorohydrex gly (16%) and it’s free from baking soda, dyes, and parabens. Their antiperspirants are also packaged in 100% post-consumer recycled materials.

Find Hello’s Vegan Antiperspirant Deodorant on hello-products.com or on Amazon. Available in Fresh Citrus or Clean + Fresh.

*Note: Hello is cruelty-free but Hello is owned by Colgate-Palmolive, a parent company that is NOT cruelty-free.

TOM’s Charcoal Vegan Antiperspirant Deodorant

Toms’ of Maine offers a couple of cruelty-free* and vegan antiperspirant sticks for men and women. They claim their antiperspirants contain Aluminum Chlorohydrate, a wetness protection ingredient made from recycled aluminum, which was originally derived from mineral bauxite ore, as well as, anti-microbial olive leaf extract, and 100% natural fragrance.

*Note: Tom’s of Maine is cruelty-free but Tom’s is owned by Colgate-Palmolive, a parent company that is NOT cruelty-free.

Tom’s of Maine men’s vegan antiperspirant deodorant is available in Charcoal, Mountain Spring, and North Woods.

And then they also have Natural Powder and Coconut Lavendar that is marketed for women.

Vanicream Anti-Perspirant Deodorant

Formulated for sensitive skin, this fragrance-free & *vegan-friendly clinical strength anti-perspirant deodorant from Vanicream contains aluminum zirconium trichlorohydrex (20%) to help reduce underarm wetness. It’s also free of baking soda, talc, ethanol, botanical extracts, and essential oils. Claims to be a smooth, dry application that leaves skin feeling soft while providing 24-hour extra effective protection.

Find Vanicream’s vegan-friendly anti-perspirant deodorant on Amazon, LovelySkin, Walmart, and iHerb.com.

*Although Vanicream does not label its products as “vegan” when I asked them if this deodorant was vegan-friendly, they told me: “All of our products can technically be considered as vegan, but we are not certified for this claim. With being a small company, sometimes these certifications can be a little out of our budget as it is something you need to continuously renew and upkeep. There are many requirements for these types of certifications, but our team is looking into it! The stearyl alcohol that we use is derived from palm.”

Chances are the men in our lives are still using the same brand of deodorant since they were in high school and sadly, most drugstore personal care brands for men are still testing on animals to this day. I’m looking at you… AXE, Old Spice, and Degree!

Luckily, there’s been an explosion of cruelty-free and ethical men grooming brands available now and to make it easier to navigate through the endless options of deodorants.. I’ve created this list of cruelty-free and vegan deodorants for men.

Although anyone, and not just men, can use these deodorants (or any other deodorants, for that matter). I personally know the men in my life tend to purchase or use personal care products that are marketed to men. So this list is intended for those who are looking for male-targeted deodorants.

I also included a list at the bottom of this post of men’s deodorants that are not cruelty-free and are from brands that do test on animals.

List of Cruelty-Free Men’s Deodorant Sticks

I tried my best to find vegan and cruelty-free deodorants that are available at the drugstore or on Amazon so that they’re affordable and accessible. Below is a list of deodorants targeted “for men” (but really, they’re for anyone!) from brands that don’t test on animals and none of these cruelty-free deodorants contain animal-derived ingredients, making them also vegan!

Kiss My Face Natural Man Deodorant ($4.99) – made with odor absorbing Antioxidant Defenders and works all day (or all night), goes on clear, and smells great! The invigorating aqua scent is a nice manly smell but it is not too overpowering.

JASON Men Forest Fresh Roll-On Deodorant Stick ($4.10) – Enjoy the carefree feeling of all-day odor protection you can rely on. JASON Natural’s clinically tested formula of Zinc Ricinoleate, Corn Starch, and Baking Soda neutralizes odor, while Grapefruit Seed Extract, known for its antimicrobial properties, helps fight odor-causing bacteria.

Weleda Men’s 24 Hour Roll-On Deodorant ($8.27) – The licorice root and witch hazel provide long-lasting odor protection without preventing the skin from sweating—its innate cleansing process. This easy-to-use roll-on doesn’t contain any aluminum salts or synthetic preservatives and fragrances.

I used to use Crest White Strips to whiten my teeth but when I learned that Crest is not cruelty-free as they test their products/ingredients on animals, I’ve been on the hunt for cruelty-free and vegan teeth whitening alternative for some time now.

There seems to be a lot of hype surrounding the recent at-home teeth whitening craze that every online influencer seems to be promoting but when I looked into most of these teeth whitening brands, they weren’t very transparent about their animal testing policy making me very wary of buying from them.

But fear not, I’ve found 5 totally cruelty-free and vegan teeth whitening options currently available on the market that are not tested on animals and do not contain any animal-derived ingredients! I always consult with my dentist to check the products I’m using are good for my teeth.

Cruelty-Free & Vegan Teeth Whitening

Dr. Brite Vegan Teeth Whitening Pens

I love the convenience and how easy it is to use these whitening pens! It literally take seconds to apply and it dries fairly quickly so you can use it on the go! I highly recommend Dr. Brite’s cruelty-free and vegan whitening pens, especially the peroxide-free version for those of us who have sensitive teeth! “Clinical studies show the teeth whitening pen removes years of stains and can whiten teeth up to 2 shades in as little as 2 days.”

The Dr. Brite teeth whitening pens are a nontoxic, vegan, fluoride-free, gluten-free, SLS-free and carrageenan-free formula made with no parabens, no phthalates, no GMOs, no triclosan and no artificial flavors, sweeteners or colors.

SnapWhite Vegan Home Teeth Whitening Kit

SnapWhite’s at-home teeth whitening kit is the perfect cruelty-free and vegan alternative to the whole online teeth whitening craze! SnapWhite guarantees to give you a whiter smile or your money back! Not to mention, these at-home kits are a fraction of what a dentist would charge for a teeth whitening treatment! Cruelty-free and vegan influencers, Tashina Combs from Logical Harmony and Rhian from Wifelife swears by SnapWhite to help brighten up their smiles!

The kit includes teeth whitening gel for 10-14 treatments, a remineralizing gel (only for US orders), LED light, and home teeth whitening trays.

Smart Ash Natural Tooth Whitening Powder by Bedrock and Bloom

I received a small sample of Smart Ash and was instantly hooked! Smart Ash is an all-natural tooth whitening powder that contains wild crafted activated coconut shell charcoal, natural calcium bentonite clay, certified organic frankincense, certified organic orange peel, and certified organic mint extract. These natural ingredients claim to safely lift stains from your teeth while strengthening, remineralizing, and reversing sensitivity.

Smart Ash tooth whitening powder is safe to use every day as a toothpaste alternative, and the food-grade ingredients are kid-friendly. 100% Fluoride-free, Raw, Non-GMO, Vegan, and Cruelty-free.

Keeko Oil Pulling Flavours

If you don’t know what oil pulling is (it’s not as scary as it sounds!), it’s basically swishing a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth and this helps to draw out or wash impurities and bacteria from the mouth. Some people also swear by oil pulling to whiten their teeth although I haven’t personally seen a noticeable difference, but I think maybe with prolong use and a consistent oil pulling routine, it may make a difference down the road!

But if you want to give it a try yourself, simply use any standard coconut oil that you can get your hands on or try Keeko’s Oil Pulling Packets that comes in 3 different flavors: Morning Mint (Spearmint & Peppermint), Citrus Burst (Lemon Lime & Pink Grapefruit) and Sweet Sensation (Vanilla Coco with a hint of Cinnamon).

Well Scent Natural Teeth Whitening

Sparkle is a natural alternative to toxic mainstream teeth whitening treatments. “Rather than adding to the body’s toxic burden while whitening your smile, Sparkle utilizes earth’s gifts to detox the mouth, eliminate plaque and naturally brighten and strengthen dental enamel.”

Ingredients: Activated coconut charcoal, Sodium Bicarbonate, sea salt, Commiphora Myrrha Oil, Plantago Lanceolata (plantain), Ceanothus americanus extract (Red Root), Azadirachta indica (Neem), Echinacea Angustifolia Leaf Extract.

Have you given any of these cruelty-free and vegan teeth whitening options a try before?
