Is there any 100% Vegan & Cruelty Free brand(s) of mascara (NOT owned by a parent company that is NOT 100% Vegan/Cruelty Free that makes colored mascara, specifically Purple, Violet, Red? Is there a way to use 100% Vegan & Cruelty Free brand(s) of Eye Shadow available in Purple – Violet – Red that can be successfully used to “make” colored mascara? I appreciate your help and suggestions. Thank you so much.

Unless the formula has been dramatically reformulated since I tried it (granted, about a decade ago), Blinc is hardly waterproof!! It smeared on my upper lids daily and once when I showered wearing it (just a quick rinse after the gym, didn’t get my face wet – the only moisture was the steam) it straight up came off, in full tube form. Stringy tube fragments falling on my cheekbones the rest of the day. NOT recommended.

In reply to Rebecca Vajdic. Hi Rebecca, Thanks for letting me know the Super Fan Mascara by Smashbox contains carmine. I've removed it from this list and added a note about it. I believe Smashbox had listed this mascara as being vegan on their website before when I first made this list a couple of years ago. But I no longer see them listing the mascara as vegan so they may have reformulated since then. Thanks for letting me know and helping to keep these product guides up-to-date and as accurate as possible! =)

You forgot 2 brands. Emani mascara is wonderful, natural and attractive. Zuzu Luxe also has wonderful mascara. Both are vegan.

Any thing new about Lavera’s animal testing policy? (I’m from China, and our importers told us that Lavera is only sold online, and it does not require animal testing. Yes, China has approved of this since Jan 1 2018, that cosmetics only sold online will not be required by animal testing.)

And I’ve tried out a mascra from Ciate London, a cruelty free and partly vegan brand in UK. Nice lengthening my eyelashes but not 100% waterproof (risky if you have very oily skin.)

I use the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. I’m looking for another vegan mascara because I want a Brown mascara and I don’t think Too Faced offers any Brown Mascaras.

In my case, brown is a better color for everyday use. It makes my eyelashes look longer without making them look too unnatural. Black is more for dressing up.

My favorite everyday mascara is Emani. 100% vegan and cruelty-free. However, although it stays on well for people with regular jobs, it is not waterproof. For my extreme-conditions job I need a good waterproof mascara that won’t tear my eyelashes out (like ELF), won’t be wishy-washy (changing ingredients once they have an established customer base, or avoiding answering questions about animal testing or other issues.), or won’t make me have an allergic reaction (all Pacifica products.) I need more info on waterproof vegan choices.

I’ve been seeing Blinc mascara recommended by a lot of people, but they seem to have changed their recipe as all of them now contain beeswax. Just mentioning it in case you hadn’t come across it – I’m gutted that I won’t get to try it!
