A comprehensive and frequently updated list of 100% Vegan makeup and beauty brands in 2024.

What makes this vegan makeup and beauty brands list different from our cruelty-free brands list?

This vegan beauty brands list is exclusive to cosmetics companies that are 100% vegan AND cruelty-free. That means we have vetted each beauty brand to ensure they don’t test on animals and none of their cosmetics products contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products.

These brands are then categorized accordingly:

For a comprehensive list of cruelty-free brands that include brands that may not be entirely vegan but that do offer some vegan options, check our Cruelty-Free Brand Directory instead.

Some makeup brands claim to be cruelty-free, where none of their products or ingredients are tested on animals. However, their products may contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products. Some common animal products found in makeup include carmine, beeswax, pearl powder, animal-derived fatty acids, and animal hair used for makeup brushes. The following vegan makeup brands do not test on animals and do not use any animal-derived ingredients or by-products in any of their products.

Some makeup brush brands claim to be “cruelty-free” yet use natural animal hair bristles for their brushes. Although companies claim this process is done in a cruelty-free manner and the animals are not harmed, we do not support the practice of taking an animal’s fur to make makeup brushes. Therefore, below is a list of vegan makeup brushes made by 100% vegan beauty brands.

What is this Vegan Brands List?

This master list comprises all cosmetics brands that have been verified by us to not conduct or commission any animal testing on their ingredients, formulations, or finished products anywhere in the world.

That also includes not selling their cosmetics products in stores in mainland China under conditions where animal testing may be required by law. In addition, brands included on this list must only offer vegan products. This means absolutely no animal-derived ingredients or by-products are used —in any and all of their products!

Why Support These Vegan Brands?

As part of choosing to live a cruelty-free and conscious lifestyle, we want to support brands that don’t test on animals. However, we also want to make sure none of the ingredients in our cosmetics were cruelly obtained from animals. And that’s why choosing cosmetics and personal care products made without animal-based ingredients is the best way to ensure no animals are harmed.

Also, choosing to support and buy from these 100% vegan brands shows there’s growing consumer demand for vegan products and that running a 100% vegan company is sustainable and profitable. This will hopefully motivate other brands to go entirely vegan as well.

So, I hope with this vegan brands list, you’ll get to discover the incredible and growing number of vegan makeup and beauty brands!

Cruelty-Free K-Beauty Brands

Looking for some cruelty-free Korean skincare and vegan Korean makeup brands to try? In this ethical shopping guide, I share some cruelty-free K-beauty brands that don’t test on animals, along with some vegan Korean makeup options.

What To Look For:

Let’s first begin by asking, is Korean skincare cruelty-free?

Unfortunately, most affordable and high-end Korean skincare and makeup brands are still engaging in animal testing like Laneige, Erborian, Amorepacific, Innisfree, Skinfood, Sulwhasoo, and Too Cool For School, and should be avoided when looking for cruelty-free K-beauty brands to buy from.

Additionally, if you’re for cruelty-free and also vegan Korean skincare and makeup brands, then you’ll want to find brands that don’t use any animal-derived ingredients and by-products like snail mucin, horse oil, beeswax, honey, lanolin, carmine, animal-based glycerin, stearic acid, or other animal-derived additives.

What Korean beauty brands are cruelty-free with vegan options then?

Note: to qualify as a K-beauty brand and be included on these lists, brands must either originate and/or manufacture their products in Korea.

Cruelty-Free Korean Skincare Brands

The following is a list of Korean cruelty-free skincare brands that are either 100% vegan or offer one or more vegan products:

Looking for affordable cruelty-free drugstore makeup? In this ethical shopping guide, I share some budget-friendly, cruelty-free makeup brands that weren’t tested on animals, along with some vegan makeup options.

Whether you’re shopping cruelty-free makeup at the drugstore, online, Amazon, Target, Ulta, Superdrug, CVS, or London Drugs, there’s something for you on this list!

What To Look For:

Let’s first begin by asking what exactly is cruelty-free makeup?

Most drugstore makeup brands are still engaging in animal testing like, L’Oreal, Maybelline, Revlon, Neutrogena, and Almay and should be avoided when looking for cruelty-free makeup.

What is vegan makeup? Most makeup and cosmetics products contain animal-derived ingredients and by-products, including carmine, beeswax, silk derivatives, tallow, animal-based glycerin, stearic acid, or other animal-derived additives.

Vegan makeup is considered as cosmetics formulated without any animal ingredients or by-products and wasn’t tested on animals.

Best Cruelty-Free Makeup in 2023

Below is a list of the most affordable vegan, cruelty-free makeup brands.

All of the makeup brands below have been verified as being truly cruelty-free and don’t test on animals. Note that I’ve included some options from cruelty-free brands that are owned by an animal-tested parent company. If you choose not to purchase from these beauty brands, avoid the ones marked with an * asterisk.

And all of the cruelty-free makeup brands have been verified as either being 100% vegan or offering at least one or more vegan-friendly products that don’t contain any animal-derived ingredients.

At the very bottom of this post, I also list drugstore makeup brands that are NOT cruelty-free and continue to test on animals and, therefore should be avoided.
